I have a Phillips 112 that I have upgraded to have two disks - a 120g and a 160 g. I used Instantcake as the utility for putting a image on the new disks. I seem to have a problem with the unit locking up or freezing when I am deleting shows out of the 'now showing' list. It also seem that anytime I start looking through the menu's via the remote the unit will lockup. The unit stays locked up until I reboot it. Tivoweb stops while it is in this state but I can still telnet to the bash prompt. I did not have any trouble installing Instankcake
Does anyone else have a similar problem ? - anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this ? Does this sound like a hardware issue or software? The record and playback function works great it only when I start looking aroung the menus or deleting recordings

Thank you

It sounds like a bad hard drive; did they pass diagnostics? If so, how long ago? Might be time to run them again...

They are both brand new - less than 2 weeks old. A Western digital and a Seagate. I just installed them out of the box. I've seen spinrite touted on these pages as a good disk diagnostic tool - do you concur ?

Both Western Digital and Seagate offer free utilities for download on their websites; you should use those first.
