I realize that this post will probably not receive any replies, however, I will try again to get SOME degree of assistance from this community.

In the Windows OS family, a hard drive with information on it, i.e., documents, mp3s, whatever, can be attached as a secondary drive (to a working system) and the information can be accessed.

Can recorded programs on a TIVO harddrive be accessed by adding it as a secondary drive to a working TIVO system?

To clarify my actual question: If I attach a hard drive that contains my recorded shows ( but that will not actually boot as a primary drive due to unknown linux errors) will the system recognize and grant access to the shows recorded on that drive?

The only reason I am creating this post is that I have read that dual drive TIVOs must be "married" and that they become "locked" or "assigned" if they are attached to a working TIVO system. ( The posts I read did not have dates, so I am not sure how old they were.)

Thanks in advance to anyone who actually takes the time to respond in a positive manner to this thread.

The answer is "no" -- unfortunately, your analogy just isn't appropriate because the issue is related to filesystems, the way data is stored, and the differences between the way an OS perceives filesystems and partitions, vs physical hardware.
