I am a newbie and to get my point across, this question is going to be wordy. I apologize in advance. I'm using the latest mfstools BootCD from Tiger.
I have a valid backup of the original hard drive on a Series 2 DirectTV Tivo that I used to build from a single drive system to an expanded 2 drive system giving me 311 hours of recording space.
The 2 drive system works fine but I wasn't able to move over the recordings from the old drive using: dd conv=noerror, sync if=/dev/hdc of=/dev/hdb bs=1024k. The single drive to single drive booted and all of my thumbs, season passes were there but the recordings, even though listed, would only give me the option of deleting, not playing.
I thougth that odd so I ran the following: mfsbackup -Tao - /dev/hdc | mfsrestore -s 127 -xzpi - /dev/hda /dev/hdb. As you can see this time I added the 2nd new hard drive into the mix.
Once again, this seemed to work but the end result was the same with only an option to delete not play my backed up recording.
Just for kicks I tried putting in the original hard drive and now I get the GSOD.
My question --finally a question you say-- is if I restored the backup to the original drive, will I lose my recordings? If so, is there another way to salvage the recordings?
I put the new drives back in and they work fine, by the way.
Thanks for any response in advance.
Todd
