I just downloaded the $5 4.01 enhanced CD image because I wanted to retrieve the 3.1.5 kernel that is on that CD.

As far as I can tell, after downloading the iso file and burning a CD, there are no S2 kernels on that distribution. Can someone confirm if this is true?

The F1-F6 readme text on the CD when it boots implies the kernels are there, but I can't find them.

The name of the iso that the purchase page directed me to download is:

ptvlba48-4.01DD.iso

Thanks!

The s2 kernels are in the s2_kernels directory on the CDROM.

Thx. FWIW, its the first and only time I've seen this question. And the reason these directories don't exist in the ramdisk structure you initially looked at is because they are too big to cram into a small ramdisk.

Hopefully, whatever guides are out there that utilize the components on this CD are referencing the material and pointing folks in the right direction. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to write big how-to guides, and posts like this end up fleshing out the details others are looking for...

Thx,
Lou

Same problem

Yeah, I was having a problem finding the S2 kernal as well, so I also got purchased the 4.01 enhanced CD image. Mine too did not have the S2 kernals or even the S1 kernal directory. I looked closer and found something interesting that may be the problem.

The web page and all links looked to go to a file called ptvlba48-4.01DD.iso like in this thread. but I checked the file I got when downloaded and it was ptvnet62-1.01.iso. It booted with lba48 support so when I checked the disk size, it said 250M (have a HR 10-250) and not the 137 of the wrong bootdisks, so I didn't catch the problem right away. I clicked the link sent to me again, and the same file came down. It only has:

-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 57 Aug 9 20:48 Autorun.inf*
dr-xr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Sep 23 15:24 isolinux/
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 48827 Aug 9 20:48 ptstart.exe*

The dates and sizes are different on the files that are the same. Did the link give me the wrong disk?

Thanks,

Mark
