Ok, I've been reading for about an hour and still am a little confused. My problem is my Tivo seems in the last 2 weeks to be slugish, and freezing alot. I need to reboot then it's fine for a while. I lose the abilty to use the remote. The picture freezes then works then freezes again. I have a huges 250 hdtv with 2 250 gig hard drives in it. It's been working for over a year. I have read alot over the last 2 weeks and even thing I read seems to come back to heating or a hard drive going bad. I poped the cover and cleaned the fans out. Note I used the upgrade kit last year with the proper bracket for the extra drive and an extra fan. The fans where a little dusty so I was hoping that might do it. Hooked it back up last night and all was good. But this morning the same problem was back. So I must have a hard drive going bad. Problem is which one. So I now have 2 western digital 250 gig hard drives to put back in. I would like to save everything I have on it and just copy old drive to new same size drive. I guess I would need to do this for each drive. So Is this easy to do. I know it will take a while and thats ok if the copy does. Can I keep everything just like it is now and use the 2 new drives? What software is needed? I was hoping to hook them up by USB and load some copy program in windows and just do a drive to drive copy. Is this possible?
Any help would be great, and in the mean time I will keep reading on this.
Thanks
