Simple question really...

I have an Hughes DTIVO SDVR40 that I "sleepered" some time back and would now like to modernized using the InstantCake/LBA40/PVTNet products.

I've read the InstantCake install instructions (online) and it appears that InstantCake never touches the existing drives. If that is the case, does it really matter if my machine is currently running 3.1.1e or 6.2 O/S since it seems to me that InstantCake is going to install the O/S anyway.

Thanks for any replies!

Shouldn't matter; no comment on the whole sleeper thing as I'm not particularly familiar with it. Like you said, InstantCake doesn't touch your existing drive - its for new/blank drives.

You don't if you plan on using PTVnet and not making your daily call. However, its not our recommendation; we never recommend installing a version of the software on the unit that is newer than what has already been received; historically, this can cause problems as the TiVo/DirecTV servers get confused when a unit with a "newer" version of the software calls in and reports its configuration, the servers get very confused when they think there should be an older version on the unit. This has caused problems in the past with Series1 DirecTV units and Series2 SA units (by problems, I mean strange system behavior).

So, our recommendation holds true; but you can do whatever you want.

Ptvnet iso

I have had no problem in "baking my cake" but my Ptvnet iso will not start past the screen writing of the "isolinux - thru the copywrite info and author name." I am at a lost of how to get the Ptvnet iso to continue ... the autorun opens ptstart and has http://forum.ptvupgrade.com where the instake was http://www.ptvupgrade.com. None of this make make a difference, but I am clueless as to what to do next. I have used different blank CD's and the iso still spins.
