I learned at the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hdtivo/ that there are new drivers for networking Tivos. Has anyone been able to modify the scripts on the sysinit files to take advange of these newer drivers? Thanks!

I ran a comparison test to determine the speed improvement uwing the new drivers on my HD 10-250 Tivo with the drive included with the PTVNet upgrade, and then with another 250-GB drive that I hacked myself. This second drive had the new drivers installed.

Using Tytools to extract a HD show from the Tivo
PTV drive Tytool: 2020 seconds 1.935 MB/sec = 1.000 (normalized)
Drive I hacked: 1488 seconds 2.626 MB/sec = 1.357

Using FTP transfer to extract the same HD show from the Tivo
PTV setup: 2145 seconds 1.822 MB/sec = 1.000 (normalized)
Drive I hacked: 1730 seconds 2.259 MB/sec = 1.240

I normalized the lower transfer rates to 1.000 to facilitate the comparison. Unless I made a mistake, the speed improvements were 35.7% when using the Tytools to extract the video, and 24% when I used an FTP client.

The drive I hacked had the new drives installed. Thanks for the attention

The drivers for improved transfer rates were downloaded from here:http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showpost.php?p=187485&postcount=4
