I have a Samsung SIR-S4120R TiVo and my 120GB Western Digital hard drive die. I just brought a Seagate 250GB drive for a replacement. What do I need to do to get back up and running? My old drive is trash it will not turn on anymore, so I cannot get the image from it. Can I use PTVnet for a ground up install? I would like to have the other functions. Or do I just have to use instantcake. What is the best way to do this and which versions should I go with?

Thanks for the help

Use InstantCake to build a fresh drive that will work just like your old one in your unit. If you want the networking capabilities of PTVnet, get that, as well. Boot with the PTVnet CD and supply the InstantCake CD when prompted and you will be good to go.

I got everything straight out. I had to upgrade my CD rom and add more RAM (I had 64mb, I had to add another 64mb). My wife and I both use laptops. I have not used my home desktop in about 4yrs it was packed up in the closet.
Thanks
