I seem to have the same problem. Also noticed that when I enabled elseed, after a call came in, the CallerID display and the play bar looked duplicated.

HDVR2 v6.2 Software, used PTVNet upgrade disk.

I have a similar issue with both elseed and Yac. Both want to post a blurred (doubled) image in the bottom right hand corner, instead of the way my old series 1 did... across the top in bigger letters.

Once it posts, it will not wipe until another action happens. I think this is an OSD library issue, but I'm not technical enough to figure it out.

I have been having the same problem with elseed. I have a phillips dsr704 with instantcake 6.2

The display was small, had double images and would not clear.

Here is what I did to resolve this:

Here is what worked for me.

I created several directories
mkdir /var/hack/
mkdir /var/hack/home
mkdir /var/hack/lib
mkdir /var/hack/bin

I then copied over the modified files via ftp in binary mode

I then did chmod 755 to all of the directores
chmod 755 /var/hack/*
chmod 755 /var/hack/home/*
chmod 755 /var/hack/lib/*
chmod 755 /var/hack/bin/*

Then I modified the /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit.author file

Look for the line: # An extra library directory needed for yac and elseed

It now looks like this:
# An extra library directory needed for yac and elseed
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/var/hack/lib
cd /var/hack/bin
/var/hack/bin/elseed -t 10 -b 0xFF000000 -f 0xFFFFFFFF &

Save the file and reboot, this worked for me.

I think that's great demak1867 that you've found a solution. I will certainly install it if the PTVupgarde people can confirm that this is a problem since it seems that there are others with this issue, and that this is the correct solution.

That's great, but after looking at both, I'm leaning towards YAC... it'll give me the Caller ID here at the computer and the tv.

Can I use it after making all those adjustments?

What I am doing is using YAC as a listener on my pc and I have added a elseed.conf file to /etc/ and in the file it has:

YacClient 192.168.1.100:10629

Applied your fix demak1867 but elseed doesn't start unless I start it in Hackman and then I have same problem any other ideas?

Not sure what you did wrong, it is working perfectly for me. You might want to add sleep 200 in a line above it in your /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit.author file

To have it start automatically you have to modify your /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit.author file

The 'var/hack' directory already exists on my machine and that's where I but 'tserver 'however for some reason I cannot create the '/home', '/lib', and '/bin' directories, I get a syntax error command not recognized, any ideas?

Ok I actually took a different approach then dmark1867. Rather then mkdir, (which I can't do for some reason, it maybe because the FTP that PTVUpgrade has installed needs to be replaced with an FTP that will recognize the command.) multiple directories and editing files this is what I did.

I downloaded and extracted the 'elseed.zip' that dmark1867 has listed above.

Then uploaded the contents of the 'bin' directory from the .zip file (minus the 'ws_ftp.log' file) to the '/ptvupgrade/bin' directory.

Then uploaded the contents of the 'lib' directory from the .zip file (minus the 'ws_ftp.log' file) to the '/ptvupgrade/lib' directory.

I ignored the 'home' directory in the .zip file.

Reboot Tivo

That's it.

It uses a larger font and color, (easier to read), and is located in the upper left instead of the lower right.

Elseed is buggy with 6.2 I am now using NCID and it is rock solid

fwiw, I think the Elseed that ptvupgrade currently puts on 6.2 (DVR2) exhibits
all the problems mentioned in this thread. I found another thread on another forum that someone put an elseed out for 7.2.1 and I decided to try it.
It can be found here:

It has a slightly different elseed.conf setup, but it works just like the
elseed did on a series 1. (nice and big on the top of the screen and goes away)

It would be nice if ptvupgrade distributed a usable elseed on the 6.2 instantcake CD.

That worked very well! I stopped elseed in Hackman, changed the filesystem to read/write (mount -o remount,rw /), copied over the new file to /ptvupgrade/bin using SmartFTP, and restarted elseed with Hackman. The called ID info is nicely displayed in the upper left and goes away when it should.

I have downloaded elseed to my desktop. How do I copy the file to the tivo directory /ptvypgrade/bin?
