Ok I just did the IC update on my Phillips DSR7000 (previously 3.1.1b)
The update went fine, replaced the drive, Cleaned & Deleted everything, went through guided set up fine, got live TV fine, went to record & it said it needed to do a test call first, plugged in the phone line, said it dialed & connected fine, then failed while Negotiating.... Do you know what that's about? & how to can I record now?

thx,

Just keep trying; you either have a noisy phone line, or there was a problem when making the connection to the data service. This happens from time to time, even on units that haven't been upgraded before.

Also note that we do not recommend installing a version of InstantCake that is later than what is currently running on your unit. IE. Installing 3.1.1e on a unit that was previously running 3.1.1b may not be a good idea. Let your unit update to 3.1.1e before installing a drive prepared with IC 3.1.1e.

OK, I'll keep trying...

So I should put my Original Drv. back in & let it updated to 3.1.1e, then put the upated drv. back in? Wasn't there something about not letting it update to 6.1 ?

P.S. Is there any way I can get a large drive (LBA48 support) in my DSR7000?

thx...

You should put your original drive back in and verify the software version; let it update to the latest version its eligible for. That could either be 311e or 6.2. Then install 311e on your new drive (or 6.2 if you have it) and once again, the unit will update to the latest version for which it is elible.

The rule is this -- don't install a version LATER than what has already been installed on your unit. As for LBA48 support, you can get that under 311e with PTVnet. 6.2 has native LBA48 support. See the release notes and product information for more details...

updated to 6.2. Can you please please send me a link to the 6.2
version since I just purchesed it yesterday?

No, it doesn't work like that; please see my previous post - no problem installing IC 311e on your new drive, it will automatically update to the latest version once installed.

OK thx, but now I think I screwed up again. I let my TiVo Drv update to 6.2, then I ran IC 3.1.1e on my new Drv. & let it update to 6.2. But I previously purchased PTVnet 3.1.1e since I had that version of IC. So will PTVnet 3.1.1e work on my newly upgrade drv with 6.2? or can you send me the link for PTVnet 6.2 so I don't have to buy it a second time in les then 24 hours?

thx.

If you want to use PTVnet 311e, you should boot with the PTVnet 311e CD, and then use your InstantCake 311e CD in conjunction with the PTVnet scripts. Same holds true if you have the 6.2 versions of PTVnet and InstantCake, respectively.

But then I will disable the autoupdate and not get 6.2, right? or should I enable it and let it update? But then doesn't override all the extras?
