Has anyone had success installing a Series 2 HD DirecTv Tivo on their network. I can get it to work if i plug in directly into my cable modem thru my netgear switch, but i wont mount if i plug it into the MN-700 wireless router. the router gives it an ip address (shows in the management tool) but cant ping or ftp to it.

I cant keep it plugged directly into the cable modem as i will exceed my limit for devices on their network.

Microsoft is currently working on the prob (india tech support, what a joke)

What wireless router would others recommend, need at least 4 hard ports (6 would be much better)

tks in advance

Not sure what you mean. Are you plugging your tivo into the usb port on your cable modem while your netgear switch is plugged into the ethernet jack? That will cause your modem to ask for two ip addresses and the cable company will freak out.

You didn't mention in your post which adapter you're using on the tivo, but frankly you're almost always better off using a network bridge instead of a wireless adapter. Also, what software version do you have, have you already done the ptvupgrade correctly, etc.

Read this thread, then this. There's some info about a naming problem with Microsoft routers.
