I have a 80 Hr Tivo TCD24008A. The HD died so after trying MFS tool 2.0, I bought InstantCake to set up a new drive. I'm using a 1GB AMD with 1GB memory. All jumpers and drive assignments are correct. NORMAL drive assignments are SerialATA C:, CDROM D:, 80GB drive E:, 40MB drive F:...
Per instuctions I made the CDROM the Primary Slave, 80GB secondary master, 40GB secondary slave (both are Western Digital Caviar drives) and disconnected the SerialATA. 80GB drive is new, 40GB is repartitioned using mfg software. BIOS shows correct config as above primary, secondary, etc.
Reading all the info during Linux boot it reports the drives as 80 and 40 GB and identifies them as hdc and hdd
Boot CD runs fine, program runs sez cake is baking then immediatly sez: "Restore failed - unable to fit backup onto drives"
Tried everything I can think of including:
Reading every post here for clues
Just the 80GB drive jumpered as single/master
(gives slightly different "not enough space message")
Disabling SerialATA and Raid in Bios
Running mfg software on both drives
Not using original TIVO drive for any of this, it's dead anyway
Got lots of hours into this - PLEASE help if you can

You need a larger drive than the original; see release notes for more details:

Alternatively, use part #1 of this process:

and don't use the large swap size option and it might work.
