I am having a problem with my PTVnet upgrade. I am using the stock 160GB drive that you guys sent out. Everything works fine, both wired and wireless, but there is one problem. When I wake up in the morning, the network cannot connect to the TiVO. If I restart the TiVO, the problem is fixed.

I have set the IP address to a fixed IP address, although the problem occurred when the unit was running with a DHCP provided address as well. All the other computers and print servers using both fixed and DHCP IP addresses do not have this problem, so it is likely something with the TiVO.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Charlie

Yes, there is a problem with static IP addresses with the current implementation of PTVnet for 6.2. The workaround is relatively simple; please see this post:

from the support thread.

Thx

We'll see if this fixes the problem

Thanks for the reply. It's seems to have restored connectivity without having to constantly reboot. I'll wait a few days to see if it has fixed the problem. Not being a Linux expert, are there drawbacks to using this fix of the problem?

The aforementioned workaround is the "fix" to allow you to use static IP. Not implementing it will most likely result in you losing connectivity as a new DHCP address may be assigned to your unit.
