I just received my 221 HR Replacement drive with PTVnet installed. I purchased this for my Hughes HDVR2 Series 2 DirecTB DVR receiver.
After replacing my old hard drive with the new one, the Tivo booted
up fine. I could watch TV like normal, and couldn't tell that anything
had been changed.

So I went to look at the network and that is where I ran into problems.

The Tivo is plugged into a USB200M USB 2.0 10/100 Network adabpter.
The is plugged (wired) directly into my Belkin F5D7230-4 54g Wireless DSL/Cable Gateway. I am currently only utilizing the 4 wired ports and
not trying anything wireless.

Looking in the Lan setup I found the IP addresses:

192.168.0.102 JFAMILY 00:07:e9:cc:18:06
192.168.0.101 TJOHN 00:0d:56:7b:43:f7
192.168.0.103 PTVupgrade-TiVo-Series2 00:10:60:84:74:59

So my switch has given it an IP address. From TJOHN (ip address 101)
I can ping the Tivo:

C:\Documents and Settings\Troy Johnson>ping 192.168.0.103

Pinging 192.168.0.103 with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 192.168.0.103: bytes=32 time=4ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168.0.103: bytes=32 time=3ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168.0.103: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168.0.103: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64

Ping statistics for 192.168.0.103:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 1ms, Maximum = 4ms, Average = 2ms

The problem is nothing else works. When I type the IP address in
my browser:

http://192.168.0.103

I get a page not found.

I've tried FTP and telnet without any success. "Connection closed by remote host".

I've tried this from both of my computers and got the same result.

So just to ensure everything was in a sane state, I powered everything off
including my Belkin switch. I then powered everything on in the following order:

Switch,
Computer 1,
Computer 2,
Tivo.

Still the results were the same.

Any idea what I should try next?

Thanks

Troy

Sounds like you are doing everything correctly. I think there may be a problem with how your drive was prepared. Please contact support here:

And if necessary, a new drive can be sent to you.

Don't know if this is happening here, but when I first set up my network, I had problems getting the Linksys 200M and linksys game adapter adapter to work with a netgear router. In trying to reset it up, the 192.168.0.xx netgear domain and the 192.168.1.xx linksys domains seemed to be in conflict. with everything linksys (router included), there were no more problems.

I think this is related to us not building his kit properly. This was one of our first PTVnet for 6.2 hard drive kits, and one of our people did not test things properly. I subsequently found the "bug" in my build scripts and it is now fixed.
