About 2 weeks ago I successfully used InstantCake in the past and it worked flawlessly, it even upgraded to 3.1.5e with no issues.

I wanted to add some USB networking, TiVoWeb, etc. and so all the instructions I found were using the baseline tivo software, so I decided to re-InstantCake my drive. I took the drive from the tivo and ran instantcake on it. After a successful bake, I put it back into the tivo, everything went well, I used the Clear & Delete all option, performed the guided setup. Everything was working fine. I then made a daily call in which the tivo downloaded approx 12 MB of data. (I'm using PPP over serial to connect). When the data started to load I got the error "Failed while loading series" I reperformed this about 3 times (I may be on the verge of becoming a moron!!), with no success.

I decided to remove the drive, use the western digital utility to write all 0's to the drive, then re-ran instantcake. Again, everything was acting correctly until the 12MB data (either 3.1.5e or f update??, my original drive is at 3.1.5f). The same error is had "Failed while loading series".

I looked at the TC forums, found some suggestions. Basically I've performed all clear & delete options, restarted, reset, performed Guided setup, etc. I may be overlooking something simple on this one.

I would appreciate any info anyone may have on this condition. Thanks.

I don't this has anything to do with InstantCake; it sounds like whatever is being downloaded from TiVo's servers is not getting downloaded correctly and/or is corrupted. You might try using something other than PPP over serial to connect, or just be patient, and eventually it may work.

Fixed!

The problem seems to have been on TiVo's/DirecTV's end. Their problem has now been fixed, now so has mine...

Thanks.
