Caller-ID for your TiVo: YAC and Elseed

YAC and elseed are both utilities we've installed that enable caller-id features on your TiVo. If you have a telephone line plugged into your PC's modem, you can run a YAC-listener on your PC. Tell the YAC listener the IP address of your TiVo on your network. When someone calls you, your PC will relay the caller-id information to your TiVo. You can use the HackMan module to turn on/off YAC on your TiVo.

Elseed is a little different. Elseed is designed so that you can plug your phone line DIRECTLY into the back of your TiVo. When you receive a call, the caller-id information should display on the screen of your TiVo. It works on some TiVo units and it doesn't work on others. Use HackMan to start it up, and give it a try!

Here is a link for YAC where you can read more, and also download the small software utility you need to run on your PC.

So basically, you need to decide whether you are going to plug your phone line into your PC or your TiVo. YAC is when you plug it into your PC, and elseed when you plug it into your TiVo.

If you are going to use YAC, go to the aforementioned link and download the listener to your PC. You will need to run the app on your PC and supply the IP address of your TiVo(s) so it will know to broadcast the information to your TiVo(s) when the phone rings. You can test the application to ensure its working without actually dialing your phone.

Ok so my question. Elseed was one of the (OK wife really wanted it ) reasons I purchased the product. I don't get anything on the screen when I call home with the phone line plugged in. I have a Samsung 4120 but the HD you sent tells me it's a 4040 Suggestions ?

Have you turned Elseed on from Hackman?

Before I go there. Love the product ! Yes I turned it on with Hackman and Hackman tells me it's running. Also, really glad I read the forum notes about waiting for the guide to update. Didn't get my local channels and was about to have a stroke.

Cool. Thx... Well, somewhere I read that elseed doesn't work all the time. So if you are sure its on and configured properly, then it just may not work for you, but if you have a modem in your computer, try the elseed stuff, it works quite nicely.
