I just baked my new drive for my SAT-T60 and it worked well, thanks!
I've got a question, sorry if this has been addressed but if so I couldn't find it by searching... how do I keep my hacks (ftp, telnet, tivoweb, unscramble, tytool) from being disabled the next time Tivo sends me a new software update? Am I safe from that already because I'm using NetReady/IC? Or is there something I can/need to do, or is it hopeless and I'll just need to bake it again when that happens? I hope not of course because then I'd lose all of my settings & programs :(. TIA.
A software update will disable your hacks. So, you'll either need to unplug your unit from the phone line (and not make a daily call through the network, either) if you don't want your unit to update itself if there's a software update; and even then, there are no guarantees that your unit won't eventually update if there is a newer software release, or do some of the advanced things discussed at dealdatabase.com for preventing software upgrades (this may or may not work for you).
Once your unit receives and installs an update, your hacks/changes, etc all will live the in the previous boot partitions on the drive and the only way to get to them will be to re-network your unit and restore them, manually. That is a non-trivial process. The shortcut to restoring, of course, will be to install an updated version of InstantCake (should there be one available) and then go from there.
