Hi ptvupgrade,

I have a Standalone S2 model TCD240040 and want to order the 140 HR (160gb) replacement drive, but it is not listed... What model should I order of the listed units for this TCD240040. I understand the new unit will need to be resetup with preferences, etc... as this is a new HD.

Thanks in advance.

Nope. PTVnet is only available for Series2 DirecTV units (take a look at the product descriptions, please...)

Any other options???

Thanks for the reply  , as per the original question, I wanted the network stuff pre installed with the LHA48, so will put this one back on the shelf and wait for this type of replacement HD from ptvupgrade...

You have any time frame this may become a product or is it available via a due-it-yourself in a Inst-Cake CD???

or any other idea's...

Thanks for any help

Sorry, there are no PTVnet products for Standalone units; no LBA48 products for Standalone units. All that stuff is for DirecTV units. 160GB drives are available (capacity upgrade kits) for the standalone units, as you originally asked. No future product announcements or planned product information revealed here, InstantCake or otherwise...

HD is going bad now - what to due...

Thank for the info, look's like my unit's HD is going bad (multi reboots, green screen and contact Tivo in three hours if not fixed), The link you pointed me to earler is a 160gb HD for the SA S2, for this to work it must have a newer kernal or a LHA-48 mod, right?

http://www.ptvupgrade.com/db/upgrade/category/products/product_detail_html?product_id=182

Looking at what you are currently providing, maybe I would be better of getting a new "Dtv-tivo" and put in one of your network HD kits?

at this point half in / half out, better to stay with a SA Tivo (new/referb) or go with a "DTV-tivo".

IE just asking what you sell more of, and any other advise you can help me move off of center on this issue.

Thank in advance, and keep up the good work!!! :D

If you have DirecTV, or are thinking about going to DirecTV, the "combo" boxes are the way to go. Better quality video, digital sound, dual-tuners. Kind of a no brainer if video and audio quality is a high-priority for you.

But from your description of the problem, its just a bad hard drive; not a requirement for getting rid of your TiVo; just replacing the drive is all that is necessary...
