Hi,

It looks like the Enhanced LBA-48 disk is what I need for the aforementioned model although it does not appear in the list of models:

http://www.ptvupgrade.com/support/lba48/index.html

It does contain the 'jamie' tool so I'd assume it'll work but I want to make sure I'm getting a tool that will:

- backup the existing drive
- restore to a larger drive
- allow me to use all the space in larger drive
- allow me to get all networking with at least telnet and ftp (killinitrd, etc)
- Have a support forum where I can ask my n00b questions and not get flamed

BTW: I'm a n00b with S2 stuff but I been messin' with S1's for a few years. I just ain't got a lot of time to gather all the different pieces.

That's certainly worth $5 bux to me.

It will get you the first 3 and part of the 4th thing (the CD includes killhdinitrd, it doesn't include any networking tools); you'll need to gleen that information from the series2 networking how-to's and information (mostly on dealdatabase). You shouldn't need to post any n00b questions as its all been documneted at ddb and is relatively straightforward if you are good at reading before asking.

Yeah, I got a good bit of experience on S1 and managed to get this far without getting n00b-flamed. Once I got the drive expanded, initrd'ed and telnet and FTP, I can run with it. Looks like I just gotta have the telnet and ftp binaries ready on the HD for installation after I restore.

I'm just looking for a short cut to get to that point and am willing to pay for it. I also wasn't sure if the Toshiba was different. It looks like the LBA48 is still worth the few pennies. It at least gets me 75% of the way there.

Thanks for the feedback.

It will at least get you the modified kernels. The free version has all the utilities, as well, except for the NSTS stuff which is currently not yet being used by any of the packages used at DDB.
