I ran the instant cake onto a 120gig maxtor. The TIVO booted up and I followed the instructions and restored the image. The restore works and I am able to watch TV and make the daily call. Yet, I am unable to record any programs. The TIVO messages say there is a harddrive problem and to reset the system and if it contiues, then contact HUGES.

Instant cake upgrade SW-ICAKE-S2DT
Ordered:
1 SW-ICAKE-S2DT InstantCake for Series2 DirecTV/TiVo Combo Units
1 Manufacturer = Hughes
1 ModelID = HDVR2
1 ModelName = Series2 DirecTV DVR
1 InstallationType = Self Installation

I booted to the IC-CD and had the newTIVO drive in HDC and a spare old drive in HDA. I do not have a good orig TIVO drive, it stopped working, so I am replaceing it with the maxtor120gb drive.

clear and delete everything

You mean "clear and delete everything" from the system reset menu, correct?

To others who may be reading this thread -- this is documented in the instructions available on the CD that can be ready by pressing the "F1 key" as prompted prior to booting the CD.
