Hello

I just received my upgraded tivo with it's new cachecard/memory

I connected a network cable, I booted the tivo.

I watched as the cachecard started, then about halfway through the 'Writing...' screen, it give a nice red screen and the word 'ERROR'.

Anyone have some Ideas?

Thanks

Rebooted a few times and now it's able to get past the 'Error' screen and load the cache...

But, I am still not getting an IP address.

And yes the network is setup correctly, I plugged the cable that comes from the cache card directly into the router and it did not get an IP, I also used the small connector that came attached to the end of the cable(from the cache card) and connected a cable that I know works and did not get an IP.

I test again with a computer using that same cable and I get an IP address via dhcp.

any ideas on the IP problem?
(guess this needs to be moved over to the 'TiVo Networking Discussions' forum)

loose connections?

It really does sound as if the network card, and/or memory chip may have become unseated in shipping. This is rare, however it does happen from time-to-time. If you are able to open the unit, I would recommend taking the cover off, removing the memory chip and ensuring the card is secured all the way on the edge connector in your unit. Don't plug the memory chip in quite yet -- boot the TiVo and troubleshoot your network scenario first, then you can put the memory in later....

Seems it was a Linksys hub 10/100, that wasn't let the cachecard work.
