Ok, stupid me. I forgot to do a clean and delete after I fired up the TIVO. Did this and went thru the complete setup again and everything seems to work properly now. Can record etc. and the error message went away. :D

I installed a new Samsung 160 gig HD into my Hughes DirecTV SDDVR40 after baking it in a PC. I did not install this as a second drive but as a replacement for the current drive.
Everything seemed to go ok. The bake reported that everything went ok. I installed the new HD into my TIVO unit fired it up and then went thru the setup of the phone etc. and reports approximately 120 hours. Everything in the setup menu lookes ok but there is no service number in the system information menu. After everything was done I received a message that there was a hardware error and it must be corrected before programs could be recorded and to either pull the plug on the unit or use the reset/restart from the menus. I did this but I still get the same error. The message said to call Hughes and report error #51.
The DirecTV works ok and I get picture etc.
Any thoughts what this may be about.
