Does the use of the cachecard and/or tivoweb allow you to actually see a file on the tivo in a video compressed format (like mp2) and then move it to a pc, or does the software take video streamed from the tivo unit to be captured on the pc?

The reason that I ask is that I have some experience with the VLC software which is primarily used for viewing and streaming. I'm looking for a solution that is more elagant than simply streaming or broadcasting video and then capturing it with a video card (something that the vlc may circumvent). I want quick copy of content rather than having to move it real time.
