Is is possible to share files between two upgraded TiVos with TurboNet cards, so that someone could watch show on TiVo A that was stored on TiVo B?

On S2 TIVOs you can if you get the HMO service. You can get music and photos from our pc and watch the on your tv. Pretty neat.

mfs_ftp is as easy to install as any of the other commonly used tools on the Series1..
