Last night (about 3am) on a lark I typed exit.

The bash prompt began to behave normally but NONE of my commands were echoed.

I rebooted and the prompt behavior returned.

This time I entered the word exit at the prompt that did not echo and all was fine after that.

When I typed exit a second time, I lost control and had to reboot.

I don't know much about Unix/Linux but it really seemed like there were two interleaving shells and I was somehow switching between them.

Is it possible that the Telenet (correct me if I am using the wrong word here) session that was meant to go to the Ethernet board got sent to the serial port instead?

That might explain why the Ethernet board doesn't work ether.

Also, the ls command doesn't seem to work when it used to.

It's real hard to keep track of what I am doing without some basic tools.

Is there a way to view the .profile file by copying it to the console (a.k.a. DOS type)

Tonight, I am going to attempt to Zmodem it to my laptop via sz. rz seems to work but since I cannot ls I cannot verify.

I think I will write a book about my experence installing tivonet but I hesitate to depress that many people.
