From the old tivo faq - tivo.samba.org
(http://tivo.samba.org/index.cgi?req=s... pressing the "enter" key causes the next "bash" prompt to be displayed immediately below the cursor on the next line, rather than the first column of the next line, then enter:
stty sane
And your prompt should behave normally when pressing "enter".

I think that'll do ya!
also, if your using hyperterm in windows, you can click:
file,
properties,
click the settings tab,
click the ASCII button,
and mess with the line feed settings.
Good Luck!
O.K. I have a bash prompt via the serial port.
I am using Procomm Plus on a windows platform at 9600 N81.
When I press the enter key I would expect to see...
bash-2.02#
bash-2.02#
bash-2.02#
and so on.
But sometimes the tivo fails to insert a CR/LF between the prompts.
bash-2.02# bash-2.02# bash-2.02#
bash-2.02# bash-2.02#
bash-2.02# bash-2.02# bash-2.02#
bash-2.02# bash-2.02# bash-2.02#
bash-2.02# bash-2.02#
etc...
sometimes the commands I enter are not echoed to the console sometimes they are.
when I enter the pwd command (print working directory) I get /var/tmp
when I try to change the directory ie. cd / and then repeatedly enter the pwd command I get a different result each time.
bash-2.02# pwd
/
bash-2.02# pwd
/var/tmp
bash-2.02# pwd
/
bash-2.02# pwd
var/tmp
etc...
I have read that there are a few different sessions operating in the TIVO and it seems that I am, somehow, changing between the sessions.
How do I change the sessions when I want?
How do I stop the above behavior.
Thanks in advance.
Mark
