1) Yes, on DTivo it will.
2) I think it is a planned feature, I've not loaded anything from CVS in a while so I'm not sure.

Maybe these are obvious, but I've not run across a good "summary" question that conclusively answers these items.. so here goes:
1.) I read that Tivo software v2.5 may kill all "hacking" of the units. Does this mean that HDD upgrades, TivoNet, web interfaces, nfs, etc. all will "die" when v2.5 of the Tivo code is deployed?
2.) Is there an existing web-interface to allow viewing recorded shows off your Tivo via your local in-house LAN with a PC & web browser (Netscape or IE)? I'm talking streaming it to a windows machine to watch and listen to the recording on a PC in another part of the house where the Tivo unit is not located.
3.) If the answer to #2 is "Yes", can you please provide a concise list of code or hacks needed to make this possible (including links would be a big bonus!)
Thanks a bunch... I'm ready to "take the next step".

Thanks for the reply. So, as for Question #1: If I have just a "basic" Tivo using RF in from Cable TV, the v2.5 upgrade should not effect me. Correct?

Okay, I too have super stupid newbie questions. I presently do NOT own a TIVO nor have I got a great deal of Linux experience - I can load it and get around however.
Is there a "step by step" guide anywhere that would help? I'm interested in purchasing a TIVO, upgrading it (there are guides), hooking it to my network, pulling streams off of it, compressing them, burning them onto VCD. This would be as opposed to using the hated VCR. I'm only interested in things like TV shows etc. That I could edit commercials out of and then archive the shows. I'd like to do this as much in Windows as possible (sorry Linux guys, it's what I'm used to).
I understand the TIVO runs a flavor of Linux but I'm looking for guidance on a TIVO purchase, and then guiance on how best to hack it so that shows can be pulled off for archiving in a somewhat simple fashion. Is the software to that point yet or is there still a great deal of tinkering? IF I ould get the stream off I don't mind fiddling with CD-RW until I got it right.
Anyway, some guidance or a pointer to a guide would help a grea deal. I know some of this is probably on the Underground but I also know that alot of it is also taboo (sigh).
