Speculation: Just curious - do you get a lot of "stuttering" on your TiVo during normal operation?

The Kraven thread has CVS instructions. The EtractStream binary under hack/bin/ has sync fixes, as documented by the html in doc/.

Go to
Embeem's page and get the setpri/getpri executibles.

After starting httpd.tcl, use the command:

setpri fifo 1 `ps auxww | grep httpd.tcl | grep -hv grep | cut -b 8-16`

Now, httpd.tcl and anything it starts (like ExtractStream) will not cause stuttering.

Alternately, put "setpri fifo 1" in httpd.tcl at the bottom, between:

set quit 0 socket -server session 80

Note that you can also run setpri directly on ExtractStream , but it will run at a higher priority for the time before the priority is set, which could cause momentary stuttering.

Now, vlc/netmplex may starve because of TiVo activity. Vlc doesn't have any compensation for a stream slowing down... it often goes black, freezes, or the sound starts going fast (chipmonks). In these situations, press the "slow" button once or twice, until it's expected time and clock time catch up (the frames start being displayed again).
