i had the same problem until i loaded the Elecard MPEG codec.
http://pvrhack.sonnik.com/tivo/dl_info.asp?DLID=45
after i loaded that codec, EVERYTHING in windows was happy with vids.
i've never burned a "real" vcd, so i can't be much help there.
i just simply mux the a/v streams together and play them back thru my powerdvd player on my pc.
since i record everything in basic, and just dump the vids to my video server, i'm not worried about re-compressing or burning anything. but the Elecard codec will fix Tmpeg up in windows.
good luck!

Just wanted to see if anyone could update us on TMPGEnc. When I last tried to use this program, I could only do the simple MUXing option from the MPEG tools menu. Whenever I tried to open the m2a and m2v files from the main menu, I would always get "Unsupported" from the program when I would try to load the m2v file.
Bascially, can someone give us a simple "HOW-TO" on the basic steps to take the .m2v file, and .m2a file, and get it in to a format where I can use CD Creator or something to burn a Video CD. It needs to be in VCD format, and I for the life of me just CAN'T figure it out.
It would also be nice if someone could give a HOW-TO on burning in SVCD format.
