Thanks for the reply Mark, But I'm still not real clear on the DSS control. So here is my ????? If I load the TivoNet can I still use the DSS port for controling the DSS box, and only run my bash shell on the ethernet? Is this the way the install script sets it up or is there something special I would have to do?

If you have the tivonet, the dss port is available for its normal use. There is nothing special that you need to do.

The disk suggested to use to setup the Tivonet does in fact start up a bash shell on the serial line which is normally used for DSS.

However, it's just a line in the rc.sysinit file, after you get the tivo back up and can telnet into it edit /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit and delete the "/bin/bash </dev/ttyS3 >& /dev/ttyS3 &" line, which should be the fourth from the bottom. Then just reboot the tivo again.

Oh yeah, you'll need to remount root to be able to edit the file, so the commands would be:

mount -o remount,rw /
joe /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit
mount -o remount,ro /
reboot

JLC's CallerID script.

JLC, a new contributor for PVRHack has created a system for displaying Caller ID information on-screen (I haven't used it myself.)

You can find the information under "Contributors | JLC" at the site in my signature...
