The TV Addict Lends the CW Promotions Department a Hand

Don’t get me wrong, the TV Addict loves the CW. But as we head into week two of the new fall season, we can’t help but notice that the little-network-that-could hasn’t really made much of an effort to remind fans that they’ve got other shows on the air. You know, besides of 90210 and GOSSIP GIRL.

So as a public service announcement to fans of quality television everywhere, theTVaddict.com thought we’d help promote the rest of the CW’s schedule [ie. SMALLVILLE, SUPERNATURAL, ONE TREE HILL, EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS, THE GAME and tonight’s newest addition PRIVILEGED] by devising a slogan slogan the CW might wish to consider.

THE CW: MORE THAN JUST 90210 AND GOSSIP GIRL, NO REALLY.

Thoughts?

I love it! Could not think of something better!

September 9, 2008 11:47 AM

AMEN!!!!!!!! Thank you!
All of us Supernatural fans have been complaining forever about the lack of promotion for the show. It's like nothing exists on that network but Gossip Girl and now 90210. Oy Vey!

THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!

September 9, 2008 12:06 PM

That is an absolutely AWESOME idea! I'm a fan of Supernatural and it's a shame that The CW doesn't promote it at all compared to the promotion for said shows [90210 and GG]. It's frustrating.

THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS!

I couldn't agree with you more! As a huge fan of SUPERNATURAL since it first hit the airwaves, the lack of love given by the CW to one of it's highest-rated scripted shows has been nothing less than criminal! They cut SUPERNATURAL's budget down drastically, PLUS they barely advertise it? How do they expect it to build new viewers that way? Come on, CW, SUPERNATURAL is an excellent show with viewers with LOTS of money to spend on your advertiser's products!

I don't even watch 90210 or Gossip Girl--but I DO watch SUPERNATURAL!!

With all respect,
Robin

I like that slogan!

I tried watching 90210, because I watched the original receipe back in the day. I turned it off after 30 minutes. I'm not a teenager any more. I get enough teen angst and attitdue from my work (I'm a secretary at a college).

I've never seen Gossip Girl.

I'm a huge fan of Supernatural. Now there's an adult show! But, sadly, I'm not in the CW's targeted demographics.

I also watch Smallville. Just to snark about it.

So, I'm in favor of your slogan. And I'm doing my best to promote other shows, particularly Supernatural.

Thank you for that! At last someone realizes that there is more to the CW than soap. I'm a Supernatural fan, watching in dismay that the show seems to be passed over for any advertising when it's the best show on TV for ten years. Anything you can do to raise public awareness of it will help!

September 9, 2008 2:40 PM

Thank you so much!!! The only show that I watch in the CW is Supernatural!!! I just do not understand how come they can not give the show any descent advertisement. The little show that could is actually holding its own in the horrible timeslot it's got; it has a very loyal following and still nothing!! Thank you very much for posting this!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. Its a shame the CW doesn't promote Supernatural more then it does. Their latest promo is horrid. There is no originality and I've seen better fan made promo's. Where are the new promo pics they promised? Everything has pics of the boys from Season 1 and 2.

September 9, 2008 2:45 PM

At least its something. Though the pic of the boys could be bigger and updated. Supernatural has been around longer then 90210 etc. Its a shame it gets relegated to a small barely visible picture at the bottom. The CW's latest promo for the show is horrid and there are no recent promo pics of the boys as they promised. They say they support the show but I'm not seeing the love.

Thanks for the effort, small that it may be.

AGREED! Woot woot for Supernatural

Love the slogan. Why can't that be the one the CW uses?

September 9, 2008 11:40 PM

I agree wholeheartedly. If I wasn't such a devoted Supernatural fan, I don't think I'd even know the show was still on the air. It really is a shame and slightly scary at how little ads and press this show gets. I don't want it to join the hordes of favorite canceled shows - certainly the CW can try a little harder!

September 10, 2008 2:11 AM

Thank you so much for this...can I run to show this thing to Dawn Ostroff? Just to remind her about a great show called Supernatural, who has the premiere on 18 september on the CW. I think she doesn't really knows it. Maybe she'll remember to do her work and give others show some promotion.
Go SUPERNATURAL!

September 10, 2008 2:35 AM

Seeing as Supernatural is the ONLY reason I even tune into the CW, this agrees with me muchly :] So ty!

September 10, 2008 7:52 AM

Thank You.
i'm Supernatural fan.
Thank you again for the promotion.
CW should think about more to promote this show.

September 10, 2008 3:59 PM

Thanks for this article and a thank you as well for verifying what us 'Supernatural' fans have been pulling our hair out over... Please, CW,
more recognition and promotion for the best and most under-rated show
out there. You have a true gem here and you're crapping all over it.
And let's not forget the two very talented actors that make 'Supernatural'
a 'pearl of great price' series, Jensen Ackles & Jared Padalecki as
Dean and Sam Winchester. Love those boys. Love 'Supernatural'.

September 10, 2008 9:14 PM

THANK YOU GOD.

Thank you so much for this.

Supernatural has so much potential and a fantastic story line, amazing crew, great actors. I can't believe the CW is only interested in the ridiculous shows that are just about make - up, fashion, sex, drugs, and drama.

What about the shows that can leave you absolutely breathless, the ones who teach you a life meaning lesson, to show you how important family is?

SUPERNATURAL TO THE DEATH.

I am a proud supporter of the CW's Supernatural.

At long last someone who agrees with the majority of CW viewers. Supernatural is by far one of the best things on our tv screens at the moment. Here we have a show that delivers the goods every damn week without fail. We have two lead actors who knock spots off many many others and who seem to be really decent likeable fellas to boot.
The CW is letting it's audience down in a majorly big way by ignoring what the viewers want. Come on CW step up to the mark and promote the best programme you have, SUPERNATURAL.

September 30, 2008 9:43 AM

I completely agree! SUPERNATURAL is an amazing show with complex storylines, acting, writing, directing, cinematography, special effects, and deserves not just more accolades, but more viewers, too! Instead of promoting this wonderful program, the CW pushes drivel like Gossip Girl and 90210 because it's the demographic they prefer to woo. If they'd open their eyes, they'd realize the most prized demographic--women of all ages with lots of money--are already tuning in to SUPERNATURAL!
