Did CBS Miss The Vampire Bandwagon?

twilight entertainment weekly cover

Here are five words this TV Addict never expected to write: Perez Hilton has a point.

In his recent post titled, ‘Vampires Are In’ the reigning queen of celebrity gossip sights the 3.5 million copies being printed for Stephanie Meyers fourth and final installment of the TWILIGHT series BREAKING DAWN, the upcoming September premiere of Alan Ball’s [SIX FEET UNDER] highly anticipated new HBO series TRUE BLOOD and the TWILIGHT movie set to hit the big screens in December as proof positive that vampires are the new boy wizards.

Leading us to wonder aloud — with interest in Vampires seemingly at an all-time high — could CBS have cancelled MOONLIGHT at a worse time?

Oh, you are so right on. I am a Twilight and a Moonlight fan and have been saying this from the day CBS cancelled Moonlight. Those millions of Twilight fans will definitely be wanting MORE after the movie and the book. Moonlight is the MORE! There are a lot of vampire stories out there but not all of them are the mortal/vampire love stories these two are. So many fans have discovered one from the other. The networks who have not picked up Moonlight should take notice! Thanks for pointing it out.

I cannot believe they cancelled the best show to hit the airwaves in eons. I watched Moonlight the first night and became hopelessly and forever hooked on this mesmerizing and charming series. I figured it would be safe for another season after surviving the writers strike and winning the People's Choice award for 2008. Was I ever wrong!
I have not a clue as to why CBS would not only cancel Moonlight but allow anyone the opportunity to pick it up or better yet place it on Showtime if they were unsure of the genre being on their primetime line up. It makes no sense to anyone. This show deserves a second chance now more than ever. Someone give those people at CBS some smart pills before it is too late!!!

Vampires are most definitely IN, but I've always loved them, so they are always in with me. Moonlight is the best TV show I've seen in a really long time. It has it all...romance, drama and comedy. Twilight, the Dark Shadows movie, True Blood...yeah, it should be a no brainer to put Moonlight back on the air. The fanbase is international and HUGE.

I hope some network will come to their senses and pick up Moonlight. The fanbase is loyal, faithful and ready to promote the heck outta this show. Be a hero, choose Moonlight.

First I am a huge twilight fan, and really enjoy the whole vampire genre. I also watched Buffy and Angel religiously. When Moonlight first came on I tried watching it but had to stop, for me it was the same as Angel without any of the things that made Angel great.

the more i read the more i hope that CBS or another network "gets it". i believe that it is too late for a fall showing, but not for a midsession replacement-there is absolutely no reason not to do it. Also i am of the thought that yeah big screen movie would be great, but i would much rather have a long miniseries-but of course coming back to tv would be the ultimate.

also, when were vampires really ever out? the genre has been constant throughout centuries! and think about it when Dark Shadows was on it was during the hay day of science and technology when it was growing by leaps and bounds. no matter where we are we need our fantasy and our vamps.

TruBlood, from what i have seen on the bloodcopy webasite, seems to have a more anthro-sociological twist to it. Being of the age to remember, the scene where they talk about vampires having rights reminded me of civil rights, when they talk about vamps and humans marrying reminded me with the anti-miscegenation law repeal [that was in 1967 folks] and now the same-sex marriage law, the painting of the V on the door, made me cringe..i hope it is good, but it is a world apart from my beloved Moonlight.

Vampires are the new black--umm sorry no, they are the forever, immortal black!

You couldn't be more right. CBS, really messed up. Now if we could just convince another network to fix CBS' mistake and put Moonlight on their network, it would be a win/win situation for that network and for the fans. Not for CBS, but that's their problem.

CBS had such a great show in Moonlight, that they wouldn't have been on the bandwagon, anyway; they could have been setting new standards with this innovative model. Moonlight is such a uniquely charming show that intertwines such complex issues as immortality, betrayal, rejection, salvation, and honor. Yet, the characters, some of which are vampires, granted, are noble, and the basic theme is love and acceptance. Add to all this a touch of dry, edgy, humor, and you have a tale that is already a classic. I truly believe that some savvy network will lift Moonlight from its dormant status, and that will be one, if not the best, business decision ever made.

THERE WILL NEVER BE ANYTHING TO OUT DO MOONLIGHT NO OTHER SHOW HAS ALEX AND SOPHIA AND JASON, I DON'T CARE WHAT THEY CALL IT. NO OTHER SHOW WILL EVER DUPLICATE MOONLIGHT. WE WANT OUR MOONLIGHT ONLY.

MOONLIGHT FAN 4 EVER

CBS is living in the past. Vamps are very in right now. They had the best show on television in a long time and cancelled it. They had a viewing of 8 million viewers, which they dainfully dismissed as insignificant. Moonlight had wonderful romance, great chemistry between the lead and supporting cast, and was different from all the stale shows on television. I certainly won't be watching CBS in the future as it is banned from my house over their laughing at the fans of Moonlight when announcing the show was cancelled. I am looking forward to the new vamp movie coming out in December.

SPOT ON! I am looking forward to Twilight, but I am dearly missing Moonlight. CBS has more than missed the vamp-wagon, they have missed out on being the first-in-best-dressed with Moonlight.

I LOVE MOONLIGHT SO MUCH, AND MISS IT LIKE CRAZY. I WAS TOTALLY ADDICTED - IT WAS SUCH A BREATH OF FRESH AIR FROM THE USUAL IDIOT DRECK OF THESE NETWORKS.
