Eureka's back on the menu, boys!

After waiting almost a year, the quirky show returns tonight with its season two premiere episode, Phoenix Rising. I had hoped to catch a marathon on the network to refresh my memory but didn't get lucky. Maybe it was on when I was infinitely bogged down in things more important than TV *gasp* (that's almost sacrilege, I know!) Either way, I have a vague memory of the finale in which Carter was married to Alyson and baby was on the way but it wasn't the right future... and everything was reset. So now we are back and I'm excited to spend Tuesday nights again with Carter and co.

Also beginning tonight is Tru Calling. I really don't know anything about this show other than Joe Flanigan was in at least some of the episodes (yes, I've got a thing for Joe Flanigan and the awesomeness that is John Sheppard, sorry, it's a girl thing!) but I'll tune in tonight and see what it's about.

On my LOTR front, I've finally gotten to Many Meetings in the Fellowship, going slow but every time I sit down to read I wind up nodding off! Darn frustrating, it is. Normally I'm not so sleepy but going nonstop for two weeks ran my well dry I suppose. I'd hoped to get it finished before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is released but I don't think I'm going to make it.

And oh! Dr. Who season 3, I loved the episodes from this past Friday and Yay for Martha being fantastic. I have to admit, I'm one of those people that prefer the shows I love stay with the same basic formula, the same actors. Usually when changes happen, it doesn't work out. Sicily needed it's Joel, and Hazzard County needed the Dukes, and Scully needed Mulder, so when Eccleston left after season one (of the new series) I was definitely worried. David Tennant stepped in though and while he was a bit more, well, manic I suppose, I quickly grew used to him as the Doctor. Then Rose! Yes, I was on the brink of tears and rather than bawling in front of my family, I found an excuse to suddenly find something to do in the kitchen right at the end. And who could replace Rose? Martha, apparently! Freeman Agyeman did a wonderful job stepping into Billie Piper's shoes and season 3 promises to be another fun adventure.

In other news, Harry is back! Tomorrow (just hours away for some lucky ticket holders) Order of the Phoenix makes it debut. I'm seriously wavering on my decision to wait till this weekend but I keep picturing babies screaming, people with big hats sitting in front of me, and all sorts of hassle that comes with going to the first showing on the first day. But I'll be looking out for opinions...for all that I've seen, this movie looks great, and Order happens to be my favorite in the books (so far).

For the latest news, rants, and raves on anything and everything Sci-Fi.
