Networks Discovering Downloadable TV Shows Raises Viewership

According to WebProNews, CBS conducted a poll recently which showed that viewers who download TV shows from network sites tend to watch more TV than the average viewer. Also, those viewers downloaded shows they had not watched before becoming new fans of those shows.

Also, a recent trend with networks is that they have added canceled shows to the websites including CBS's Smith, Fox's Vanished and NBC's Kidnapped.

There seems to be a general frustration with the networks for not paying closer attention to the trend of downloading TV shows from the Web. In a forum about downloading TV shows from the Web said "What a waste. I have downloaded shows for a while and always wondered why the networks haven't gotten into it."

Finally, networks have discovered that the Internet is not a competitor but a technology that can actually enhance TV.  So, what will this do for the DVR industry?
