Blade: Pilot OAD 6/28/2006

Ehhh....  It didn't totally suck (rimshot please!) but didn't become my must see, super-duper favorite show of all time either.

They did a good job of capturing the spirit of the Blade movies.  Having the writer of those be involved with the show helps.

Sticky Finggaz did a good job at mimicking Wesley Snipes' pissed off at the world attitude.  Couple of moments there where I forgot it wasn't him on screen.

The show did move a little slow in parts for my tastes, but it was after all the pilot ep, so they're introducing characters and blah blah blah.  The police detective who is now a vamp experiment, don't know his name, don't care too, that I feel is a dead storyline, or a very boring one at best.

I knew they were going to focus on Krista a bit more than Blade.  We have had 3 movies to get acquainted with him, although they did a decent job of giving the quick primer on who and where he came from.  If she keeps wearing those dresses, no problem.

The villain, boring, just doesn't float my boat.  I hope he's not the main focus of each ep as that will become tedious to watch.  I'm a badass vampire, blahh suck yo' blood!  whatever...

The action scenes were pretty nice though.  I applaud spiketv for having the stones to show that much gore on tv.  It wasn't open heart surgery but not bad.  The scenes were done like the movies, mostly fast paced, have no idea really what's happening until Blade is standing over a pile of ash.

The show, to me anyways, had a very Witchblade feel to it.  I guess how the show is shot being dark most of the time, etc but all throughout the show, it kept popping in my head.

A good summer watch, but there is room for improvement.

You're going to get my take on all things TV, whether you like it or not.

I watch more TV than anyone I know, some would say even a little too much (except for that reality crap). It's an obsession and a hobby for me. You'll be getting my opinions on shows I watch, shows I think you should be, or ones to avoid together.
