If The Showrunners of THE EX LIST Were Smart...
… They would do their absolute best to extend an olive branch to the eight million or so angry and bitter fans of the recently axed MOONLIGHT . Take it from a TV Addict who knows. When EVERWOOD was unceremoniously cancelled to make way for the CW’s much-hyped and short-lived RUNAWAY, ask me how many episodes of it I watched. Not a single frakkin’ frame of footage! Seriously, that’s how bitter I was. So rather than simply be remembered as the show that replaced MOONLIGHT, showrunner THE EX LIST showrunner Diane Ruggiero [who oddly enough knows a thing or two about fandom coming from the world of VERONICA MARS] might wish to consider taking a proactive approach when it comes to reaching out to grieving MOONLIGHT fans. Which brings us to the free advice. With THE EX LIST revolving around Elizabeth Reaser [GREY’S ANATOMY] exploring her past relationships after a... More »

You Be the Critic: KNIGHT RIDER
Before reading this TV Addict’s rant with regards to last night’s special two-hour KNIGHT RIDER movie there are three things you should know. Firstly, having missed the original series by a few years, I have absolutely no warm and fuzzy feelings of nostalgia for the original Hasselhoff’s vehicle. Second, I’m still angry at NBC Ben Silverman for his recent comments with regards to FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. And finally, I’m not ten years old anymore. Which would most likely explain why I may never tune into NBC on Sunday night ever again. Two hours of AMERICAN GLADIATORS followed by what amounted to be a glorified car commercial for the Ford Mustang. My dear NBC…. what have you let yourself become? Between the endless shots of KITT which had me wondering how much Ford paid for this infomercial, to the absolutely inane banter between the show’s reluctant heroine Sarah and the incredibly... Dexter: Morning Comes
Three months ago, this TV Addict asked you all which family member, friend or co-worker would fall victim to Dexter’s ’special brand of justice’ this coming season. Eight episodes in, we’re still not sure. But thought why not run down the list of potential victims anyways! Lila: Following last night’s episode, Dexter’s ex-girlfriend, arsonist and all-around ‘crazy’ undoubtedly seems like the most-worthy victim. Not only has her tits totally thrown Dexter off his game, but she stepped way over the line by breaking into Rita’s house. As Dexter said in the show’s first episode. Never mess with the kids. Translation: Sayonara Lila. Lundy: While Lundy seems like the most intelligent foe Dexter’s ever had to face. We have a feeling that his relationship with Deb will most likely cloud his judgement when it comes to making the Bay Harbour Butcher/Dexter connection. That or the fact that the man walks around... Want to End this Strike? Boycott Reality TV!
On Monday night, the Writers Guild of America’s worst fear?became a reality: over 20 million Americans tuned into ABC?s DANCING WITH THE STARS. Now, I know what you’re thinking: Shouldn’t the writers be a little more concerned with the fact that they’re currently on strike,?guaranteeing a Christmas only the Grinch could love? Well, yes, but the unprecedented success of DANCING should cause the scribes more than a few restless nights. Reality television is the TV writer’s kryptonite, and the continued?success of the genre can only mean bad news for the WGA. After-all, why should networks and studios green-light intelligent and?costly scripted endeavors like DAMAGES and MAD MEN ? or even less stellar offerings such as CAVEMEN ? when they know that audiences will flock in record numbers to watch D-list celebrities compete for a glitterball and a chance to keep fame?s fickle timekeeper poised at 14:59. It seems television viewers... More »

How Much Strike News Do You Want?
As I woke up this morning, walked the world’s greatest dog MAC , made coffee, sat down in front of my iMac [yes, clearly I have issues] and headed over to check out Deadline Hollywood Daily and UnitedHollywood.com for the latest strike news ? a thought crossed my mind. The success of theTVaddict.com is as a direct result of YOU the reader. Thus, I should probably ask this question. How much strike news do you want? Do you want theTVaddict.com to become strike central? Constantly updating throughout the day with news of the cast of GREY’S ANATOMY picketing outside ABC. Or would you prefer I take up valuable bandwidth waxing poetically about how much I loved last night’s installment of GOSSIP GIRL? Let me know by leaving a comment below. More »

HEROES, HOUSE and [strike] HELL
Today’s good news ? HEROES showrunner Tim Kring finally acknowledged to EW.com what this TV Addict has been saying for months ??HEROES is broken. Revealing among other things that the pace of the season has been too slow, the new heroes weren’t introduced properly and Hiro was in Japan for far too long [well duh!]. The bad news?? with the writer’s strike in full swing it’s looking like Kring and Co. will have quite a few months to ensure season three gets off on the right foot [translation: Wes, Monica and the Wonder Twins are killed swiftly by Kristen Bell’s Elle] As much as I’m loving the new season of HOUSE , is anyone else starting to feel a little bad for Cameron, Chase and Cuddy? To make way for the new interns, they’ve all pretty much pulled a “Robert Sean Leonard” this season. Don’t get me wrong, the new... More »

The TV Addict Asks: Why Was HEROES: ORIGINS Really Cancelled
Today, NBC announced that as a result of the looming writer’s strike, the peacock network is pulling the plug on the much-hyped HEROES spin-off ORIGINS . ORIGINS, set to fill the void between April and May Sweeps was going to introduce one new hero a week with the help of a few Hollywood heavyweights such as Kevin Smith, Eli Roth and Michael Dougherty. Naturally, the surprise and sudden cancellation of one pretty exciting idea begs the question. Is the writer’s strike really responsible for the cancellation of ORIGINS. Or simply a convenient excuse to hide the fact that HEROES has seriously underperformed both creatively and more importantly in the ratings this season. More »

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: Good News and Bad
In an effort to sum up Friday’s second season premiere of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS , a classic TV theme song comes to mind. “You take the good you take the bad you take them both and there you have… umm, the second season premiere of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS?” First, the good. From the hilarious ‘What Would Riggins Do’ opening to Julie breaking down in the car as she explained to her dad that she doesn’t want to end up like her mom — no show on television does genuine family drama like FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. That said, one plot point that I’m not about to spoil [in the off chance you have yet to see the premiere] begs the question. Did FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS just turn into MELROSE PLACE? Or worse, ONE TREE HILL? I did not see that coming. And short of ‘it’ being a dream sequence [which I’m... More »

A SOPRANOS Confession
On the eve of THE SOPRANOS series finale, this TV Addict has to get something off his chest. Something so shocking, it may rock the very foundation that theTVaddict.com has built its reputation on. Ready? Here it goes… I’ve never watched an entire episode of THE SOPRANOS! Yes, you heard me. The man who runs a web site entirely devoted to television hasn’t watched one of the most celebrated series on TV. Now that I’ve got that off my chest (really, admitting I have a problem is the first step) , I’m curious… Is anyone brave enough to reveal that they too have yet to fall in love with America’s most wanted popular family? Post away below and feel free to let me know if I should give season one another try on DVD over the summer. For TV reviews, news, and more, the theTVaddict is your source! More from... More »

Amrie's Take on TV: An Open Letter...
A few open letters to the writers of some of my favorite shows….because seriously, it has to be done, for their sake, and the sake of my sanity! Dear Lost creators/writers/executive producers, et.al: I used to be under the impression that, more than any other show, I would follow your thoughts, creative ideas, general “what the heck” storylines, etc., to any night, time, channel, etc. At the end of Season 1, I was your number one fan, spending at least a half hour a day chatting with someone about what everything meant. And I was still kind of that way during Season 2….not as much, because I, like many, cannot stand Michele Rodriguez. It wasn’t that I couldn’t stand her because she was on your show, because she was a “Tailie” and I felt they served minimal purpose….I just couldn’t stand her. Even the small glimpse we got of her...
