Is ABC Giving Up on LIFE ON MARS?
Giving Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood Daily a run for her money in the news-breaking department, yesterday’s Hollywood Reporter Live Feed broke the news that ABC plans on swapping LIFE ON MARS’ cushy post-GREY’S ANATOMY time-slot with that of PRIVATE PRACTICE come January 2009. Now this TV Addict is the first to admit that it doesn’t take a rocket scientist brain surgeon to see that the one-two combo of GREY’S ANATOMY and PRIVATE PRACTICE just makes perfect medical sense. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for LIFE ON MARS’ prospects when it moves to Wednesday at 9PM following LOST. Random Musings: KNIGHT RIDER, Mena Suvari & HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER
As much as I’d like to, this TV Addict simply doesn’t agree with Maureen Ryan’s assertion that the only reason NBC President Ben Silverman picked up KNIGHT RIDER for the entire season is because “KITT has taken over NBC!” Because let’s face it, a car running a major television network is ridiculous. Well, that and our own theory makes way more sense. Ben Silverman is obviously a Cylon and renewing KNIGHT RIDER is all a part of his secret pro-machine agenda. Flipping through this week’s fantastic issue of Entertainment Weekly featuring a sneak peak of J.J. Abrams STAR TREK re-boot, this TV Addict couldn’t help but notice an advertisement for Lifetime’s SEX AND LIES IN SIN CITY , starring Mena Suvari . Begging the question: What happened to the young actress who broke on the scene with AMERICAN PIE and AMERICAN BEAUTY? And more to the point, how on earth... More »

Think There's No Such Thing as a Stupid Question, Check These Out!
Should the country that chooses NBC’s abhorrent KNIGHT RIDER [7.6 million viewers] over ABC’s whimsically originally [albeit slightly confusing] PUSHING DAISIES [6.3 million viewers] seriously be trusted to vote the next President the United States? Does FOX’s full season pick-up of FRINGE officially get them off the hook for the early cancellations of TV Addict favorites like KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL, UNDECLARED, DRIVE, FIREFLY, REUNION… well, you get the idea. Who are you, as Frank would put it, gayer for? 30 ROCK’s Jamie [Val Emmich] , UGLY BETTY’s Jesse [also played by Val Emmich] or LIPSTICK JUNGLE’s Kirby [see our interview] . Which Mitch Pileggi character-of-the week would you like by your side in a bar fight? Grandpa Winchester on SUPERNATURAL, SONS OF ANARCHY White Supremacist Leader Ernest Darby, or Kevin’s BROTHERS & SISTERS boss Browne Carter. addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fthetvaddict.com%2F2008%2F10%2F03%2Fthink-theres-no-such-thing-as-a-stupid-question-check-these-out%2F'; addthis_title = 'Think+There%26%238217%3Bs+No+Such+Thing+as+a+Stupid+Question%2C+Check+These+Out%21'; addthis_pub = ''; More »

You Be the Critic: DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, BROTHERS & SISTERS & DEXTER
After spending all summer hearing about a twist so huge it would be like “throwing a pebble on a mountain, only to have it turn into an avalanche that can’t be stopped.” This TV Addict couldn’t help but feel slightly let down by last night’s supposedly shocking ending to DEXTER’s third season opener. I mean seriously, Dexter is a daddy? Isn’t that type of predictable plot contrivance usually reserved for DEXTER’s time-slot competitor DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES? Which bring us to the ladies of Wisteria Lane. Who in a word, I LOVED! As expected. the five year flash forward was the exact ingredient DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES needed to completely reinvigorate the show. Not only do we now get to spend an hour a week filling in the blanks as to what happened to our fab five over the course of the past five years, we get an even funnier Gabby, a far less... More »

KNIGHT RIDER Review: Worst New Show of the Season
When NBC President Ben Silverman first announced the re-launch of the KNIGHT RIDER franchise, this TV Addict was more than prepared to cut him a little slack. I mean who can blame the neophyte Peacock President for wanting to generate a few splashy headlines, cash in on America’s seemingly never-ending love affair with 80’s nostalgia, not to mention, grab, what surely amounted to a huge pile of cash from Ford [Three cheers for vertical integration!]. That said, following the train-wreck, err… auto collision that was February’s two-hour movie [see review here] , Ben Silverman is officially running on empty. Last night’s season premiere of the re-tooled KNIGHT RIDER series was quite literally unwatchable. And believe me, this TV Addict tried. Twice! After only managing to get through twenty minutes of the pre-air premiere courtesy of iTunes, I made the unfortunate mistake to take a second shot last night thinking the... More »

Exclusive Interview: PRISON BREAK Star Dominic Purcell
As per tradition, the season premiere of PRISON BREAK truly relaunches the show in an entirely different direction. Giving it a very OCEANS 11, A-TEAM kind of vibe. Dominic Purcell: I agree, that’s the way it kind of feels. Are you a fan of the way in which the show is constantly re-inventing itself? Well we’ve got to come up with ways to keep this thing going you know. And it’s not necessarily us the actors or the writers. It’s the suits. They love the show and they want us to keep it going. For me there’s a bit of trepidation though. I’m constantly thinking, is the audience going to get into it this year? But the writers are really passionate about making the show work, constantly coming up with these crazy ideas. Crazy ideas like Sara’s re-heading! What are your thoughts on her return? I don’t know. I’ve never... More »

Rank J.J. Abrams Leading Ladies
While some may argue that the series premiere of FRINGE raised some fairly large questions for fans to waste valuable bandwidth debating ? Questions like why exactly was Walter Bishop institutionalized in the first place? Just how evil is Massive Dynamics? And how on earth is Mark Valley’s Agent John Scott alive? This TV Addict thought he’d take this opportunity to bring up the one question guaranteed to bring down the internet.* Now that you’ve had a chance to meet Agent Olivia Dunham, where does actress Anna Torv stand in the pantheon of J.J. Abram’s girls? [J.J’s girls of course refers to FELICITY’s Keri Russell, ALIAS’ Jennifer Garner and LOST’s Evangeline Lilly.] * theTvaddict.com in no way actually guarantees this addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fthetvaddict.com%2F2008%2F09%2F10%2Frank-jj-abrams-leading-ladies%2F'; addthis_title = 'Rank+J.J.+Abrams+Leading+Ladies'; addthis_pub = ''; More »

The TV Addict Lends the CW Promotions Department a Hand
Don’t get me wrong, the TV Addict loves the CW. But as we head into week two of the new fall season, we can’t help but notice that the little-network-that-could hasn’t really made much of an effort to remind fans that they’ve got other shows on the air. You know, besides of 90210 and GOSSIP GIRL. So as a public service announcement to fans of quality television everywhere, theTVaddict.com thought we’d help promote the rest of the CW’s schedule [ie. SMALLVILLE, SUPERNATURAL, ONE TREE HILL, EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS, THE GAME and tonight’s newest addition PRIVILEGED] by devising a slogan slogan the CW might wish to consider. THE CW: MORE THAN JUST 90210 AND GOSSIP GIRL, NO REALLY. Thoughts? All photos are owned by the The CW Network, LLC. You Be the Critic: GOSSIP GIRL, PRISON BREAK & ONE TREE HILL
Do you know how long I’ve waited to post the words “You Be the Critic”? I mean seriously, it’s been months! And not even the lameness of Michael “Why does FOX keep hiring me?” Rappaport on PRISON BREAK could ruin the excitement that was two hours of Sara and Michael reunited, a GOSSIP GIRL premiere that lived up to the hype [I mean could Chuck and Blair be anymore fun?] and ONE TREE HILL that not only featured the return of Cruella DeVictoria but the awesome craziness that is Nanny Carrie. So if you’re new to theTVaddict.com, here’s your chance. Put on your critics hat and let us all know what you thought of last night’s TV. addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fthetvaddict.com%2F2008%2F09%2F02%2Fyou-be-the-critic-gossip-girl-prison-break-one-tree-hill%2F'; addthis_title = 'You+Be+the+Critic%3A+GOSSIP+GIRL%2C+PRISON+BREAK+%26%23038%3B+ONE+TREE+HILL'; addthis_pub = ''; More »

Vote For the Cutest!
One of the fringe benefits of running one of the web’s most popular Television web sites is the seemingly never ending amount of emails I field on a daily basis offering theTVaddict.com free stuff in exchange for a little publicity. Now as a general rule, unless the free stuff comes in the form of TV DVD Box sets that I can give away to my readers, I generally offer up a polite thanks-but-no-thanks to any and all offers. That is, with the exception of this one. When this TV Addict was offered a free Build-A-Bear Workshop Beary Limited edition HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL BEAR , I knew right away I couldn’t say no. Because as frequent visitors to site know all to well, I’m always looking for an excuse to shamelessly post pics of my adorable GoldenDoodle ‘Mac.’ (more…) addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fthetvaddict.com%2F2008%2F08%2F20%2Fvote-for-the-cutest%2F'; addthis_title = 'Vote+For+the+Cutest%21'; addthis_pub = ''; More »

Are Joss Whedon Fans Overhyping DR. HORRIBLE?
At the risk of incurring the wrath of pretty much 99.999% of the internet fandom, this TV Addict is just going to say it. Are Joss Whedon fans drinking the Kool-aid? Don’t get me wrong, I love the guy as much as the next Browncoat. But does the first part of DR. HORRIBLE , Joss Whedon’s just launched internet musical featuring the likes of Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day honestly warrant such an exuberant outpouring of affection. I mean take a look at this flurry of twitter messages. mytakeontv: I’m on my 5th viewing of Dr. Horrible. AMAZING! Did CBS Miss The Vampire Bandwagon?
Here are five words this TV Addict never expected to write: Perez Hilton has a point. In his recent post titled, ‘Vampires Are In’ the reigning queen of celebrity gossip sights the 3.5 million copies being printed for Stephanie Meyers fourth and final installment of the TWILIGHT series BREAKING DAWN , the upcoming September premiere of Alan Ball’s [SIX FEET UNDER] highly anticipated new HBO series TRUE BLOOD and the TWILIGHT movie set to hit the big screens in December as proof positive that vampires are the new boy wizards. Leading us to wonder aloud — with interest in Vampires seemingly at an all-time high — could CBS have cancelled MOONLIGHT at a worse time? addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fthetvaddict.com%2F2008%2F07%2F10%2Fdid-cbs-miss-the-vampire-bandwagon%2F'; addthis_title = 'Did+CBS+Miss+The+Vampire+Bandwagon%3F'; addthis_pub = ''; More »

CBS Gets its End of Season Report Card
CBS Good Moves: The highly underrated HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE were both renewed for a third season. While THE BIG BANG THEORY reminded us once again that nerds are funny. Bad Moves: Canceling MOONLIGHT, the one show that broke the CBS mold and actually had this twenty-something TV Addict tuning into an hour long drama on America’s oldest skewing broadcast network. Prognosis for the Coming Season: Great, assuming you’re over forty and really dig hour after hour of depressing ripped-from-the headlines crime/procedural dramas. Grade: B- Related Articles: In case you missed them, here’s what we had to say about FOX , NBC , CW and ABC . addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fthetvaddict.com%2F2008%2F06%2F20%2Fcbs-gets-its-end-of-season-report-card%2F'; addthis_title = 'CBS+Gets+its+End+of+Season+Report+Card'; addthis_pub = ''; More »

Will You Be Dropping By SWINGTOWN Again?
Because this TV Addict really isn’t sure. On the one hand it’s summer, which means there’s virtually nothing else on in terms of quality scripted television dramas. Also in SWINGTOWN’s favor is that it features MELROSE PLACE alum Grant Show sporting an awesome 70’s-porn-star-moustache and a series premiere that was compelling enough that I’m asking, “what happens next?” On the other hand, was anyone else slightly perturbed with how quickly Susan and Bruce Miller threw caution to the wind and cast aside their oldest/dearest friends in order to sign up for this new and exciting lifestyle? Not to mention the far more pressing issue ? the fact that SWINGTOWN is a series that CBS has relegated to the summer ? meaning that it’s more than likely already cancelled in the minds of the proverbial Powers that Be. Thus should I really be investing my time into a show that’s sure... More »

Channel Surfing with C.T.
Who knew that NBC could actually pull off a horror anthology? Okay, sure, it might be a little too soon to judge FEAR ITSELF , but the first episode was surprisingly good. Sure, I would have liked a more original story, but vampires are an easy sell. (Um, except where CBS’ MOONLIGHT was concerned. What the heck went wrong there?) I thought this offering was a heck of a lot better than 80 percent of what Showtime’s MASTERS OF HORROR offered up in its lackluster second season. I’ll admit that the scenes for next week’s episode — featuring Eric Roberts as a detective literally haunted by the sins of his past — didn’t do much for me, but that doesn’t mean I won’t give it a shot. There’s way too little good horror being offered on television these days, so I’m going to give this show a chance. I mean,... More »
