So in order to cerrect the above issue i erased the hackman.cfg file and rebooted the unit. This causes hackman to regenerat the cfg file. Now i have a button to start vserver with, and when i click the button it says "Starting vserver" but then when i go back to the hackman screen the button next to vserver is still a start button. Sorry for all the posts just trying to figure this out...

Thanks again

Does anyone have and answer to this?  I'm having the same trouble and I've searched many threads and haven't seen an answer.

I know there's been a lot of work put into these hacks, and I really do appreciate it.  I just wish I could find an answer more easily.

Thanks

Thanks.
Installing Hackman is pretty painless.  I'm a noob too but I was able to get Hackman 4.2.8 installed on my PTV/ Instant Cake drive in my Phillips DSC704 without too much trouble.  It's simply a matter of FTPing some files into 4 different directories in your "TivoWebPlus" directory then doing one quick file edit to activate the program (this part is done deliberately to force you to read the "readme" so you can get some understanding of what the program is about.

I'd just like to take a moment to say thanks to Yog-Sothoth for the great article.  Being able to stream my shows to my laptop over my WiFi is a sweet new functionality for my DTiVo!   As a rookie to TiVio hacking, it took me a couple tries to get it right but I'm glad I stayed with it!

In Article 12441 your Step 13 says to Add the following lines to the end of the file: #start vserver /ptvupgrade/bin/vserver & In article 8497 "Setting up a Series 2 DirecTIVo -- v 6.2 for Extraction", the instructions refer to establishing "TSERVER.app". This was after I installed Superpatch-67all-NutKase-1.2.tcl. It appeared in the discussions that NutKase 1.2 is the current version for a Series 2 DVR. Is this correct? How do vserver and tserver relate? thanks.

I've got two philips dsr 704's, both had TWP 2.0 and hackman 4.XX installed back in August 2007. They worked fine, I built a mythtv box and streamed both tivos to a different machine. Then, one 704 lost a hard drive at the end of April. I bought a new one and repaired it from scratch, followed all of the same instructions from before; the only difference? I used TWP v2.1.b3 and hackman 7.0. Now I don't see asx/ tivo in Now Showing. The newly repaired box does not stream. Drats!!! What may I have done wrong?

Will this solution work for TiVo Series 1? That is what I've been using (with lifetime service) since 2000.
